Abstract / Description:

Statin use among patients with ovarian cancer was associated with a large reduction in cancer-specific mortality, an observational study of Finnish women found.

Among over 10,000 epithelial ovarian cancer patients, those that used any type of statin had a 40% reduction in ovarian cancer mortality compared with never-users (HR 0.60, 95% CI 0.54-0.66) and a 37% reduction in 5-year mortality (HR 0.63, 95% CI 0.56-0.70), reported Kala Visvanathan, MD, MHS, of Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore.
